The Old Cross and the New

I recently was talking w/the youth pastor at my church and we shortly began a discussion about the state of Christianity in this country. I dont want to over generalize, but I have to say that too often I: see around me, presonally experience, and sadly add to myself a brand of Christianity today that I think is too comfortable and diff. of the saints of old.

I want to see us carry on the torch, pick up our crosses, and live radically for Christ. It will cost us, but the more I read God's word the brand of Christianity that we see today in the US is not what we were called to and not what was modeled by those who walked with Christ in the flesh.

So, in talking w/Jon (our youth pastor) he talked about those who have inspired him...the likes of Tozer, Lewis, Edwards, reading the biographies of martyers of the faith.

I have to say that I'm taking my first steps in thinking about and acting on all of this and as brothers, who I care about, love, and respect I want to invite you in on discussing this.

----I read a short essay by Tozer recently titled "The Old Cross and the New"-(you can google it)---- I'd love your thoughts on it and to begin to share with eachother again on this blog what we are learning, challenge eachother, and encourage eachother to live bodly for Christ, the One who is worthy of so much more glory, honor, and praise than we give Him.

I've babbled enough, but read the essay for a start (it'll take 5 min.) and let's dive deep again. Share thoughts, questions, tell me that you think I'm an idiot or wrong, whatever, but let's dialogue. I love you all and am greatful for how Jesus Christ uses each of you in my life!!!
